Hello, hello, hello. This is a pretty simple post regarding my Substack schedule. Usually, it’s 2 new flash fictions (1 at the start of the month, 1 at the end) and 1 re-run in the middle of the month. But there’s a couple of things which will change that.
I’m working on 1. a visual novel called Toxic Sludge Fountain (TSF), which may also be released as a webnovel i.e. just the text), and 2. a videogame (turn-based RPG) called 29 Days of Fog (29DoF). So, most of my writing efforts are focused on those projects.
The short writing I am working on is stuff I intend to send to literary magazines. I know the rejection rate is high, but I want to do something new and also maybe earn money from it (if my stuff is accepted). And also, I’ve always wanted to try it out. If I get anything published, I’ll definitely post about it here.
Writing flash fiction regularly has really exercised my writing muscles a lot, but I want to get back to writing long-form stuff like TSF, and some slightly longer short stories too. Longer short stories, so not flash fiction. Even the flash fiction I wouldn’t be able to immediately post here since Balancing this with my college work (including personal research projects) and my other projects… yeah, the Substack schedule won’t be so manageable.
That’s why I made that one sorta experimental post, where I just showed some works-in-progress flash fiction snippets. Perhaps I’ll continue doing something like that. Not snippets, because there’s only so much I can show from WIPs, but SOMETHING. Maybe I’ll talk about one character (or concept/location) from either TSF or 29DoF each month. Maybe the new schedule will be:
Early in the month: 1 story post about either 29DoF or TSF
Middle of the month: 1 re-run
Late in the month: 1 new flash fiction
Or:
Early in the month: 1 post about the story of 29DoF
Middle of the month: 1 re-run
Late in the month: 1 post about the story of TSF
It would be nice to at least do 1 new flash fiction every month, since it’s always good practice + sometimes they just HAPPEN. They’re events which occur and take possession of my mind and hands and the words just HAPPEN.
Who knows!
But yeah, I’m going to keep the schedule to 3 posts per month, just that there may be some changes, and I wanted all 6.523 people who read this newsletter regularly to know this.
What does the future hold in store?????????????????????????????
